Songwriting Performance and Workshop

Are you wanting to further develop your songwriting skills? Honor your voice? Network with other writers? .

We are partnering with Rachel Linde and  @nambaarts to host a Songwriting Performance and Workshop on November 10th, 7-9p. $20 gets you in! We will have light refreshments for attendees. Bring something to write in! Enjoy these six uniquely talented songwriters, hear them perform original songs and discuss their processes, and have an opportunity to ask them anything about songwriting and performing! .

Performance & Workshop Featured artists: .

Miller Cornell is an Ojai native, and at age 11 he is already an exceptional songwriter! He writes about his experiences and dreams in a cinematic fashion and pulls you into his imaginative stories through song. Miller is living proof that no matter the age, art comes from the soul!.

Kylie Pence is a budding songwriter born and raised in Ventura. She started playing the ukulele and guitar in the past year and has used music as a tool to learn and grow and work through the trials of life. Her songs are fresh, fun, and singable! .

Rachael Lynde is an Arizona native, born into a musical family playing music and singing from a very young age. Songwriting has always been a free flowing gift and outlet for me, and with a catalogue of over 400 original songs I am passionate about encouraging songwriting as a creative and cathartic outlet for artists. My songwriting approach is unconventional and I hope to help inspire people to throw fear aside and write!

The Blue Moon Singers ( us) are known broadly for their growing momentum in the Ojai music scene and beyond, their fresh sound, sweet melodies, and whimsical attitudes. Their original song “Wild Ones” was featured in an H&M ad this spring. These fierce thirteen-year-olds will be sharing a few original songs, as well as debuting a brand new original song!

Shelby Figueroa: With a powerful, crystal-clear voice, Shelby Figueroa doesn’t just stir the emotions of her listeners, she sings straight to their hearts. The Ventura, California singer-songwriter and gifted pianist’s dynamic debut EP “Highwire” went to No. 1 on Amazon’s Hot New Releases when it was released in June 2016. Her songs – emotional, crisp, beautiful - blend dark pop with classic melodies. Shelby moves effortlessly from a velvety whisper to a fierce roar. She will be sharing her beautiful voice as well as her insight on songwriting, creativity, and being an artist.

Ukulele Kanikapila

Our Ukulele Artist and Teacher Rachael Lynde will gather Ukulele students, professionals and neighbors together for an evening of “Kanikapila” or very loosely translated… “Ukulele Drum Circle”

Kanikapila is a style of Hawaiian music produced in an impromptu jam session, most commonly taking place at a beach, or family gathering. The term comes from kani which means sound. and pila which means any string instrument in the Hawaiian language.

The Namba audience is encouraged to bring along their own Ukuleles and be an important, integral part of the performance!
